Veterinary Technician

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • 1+ year of experience in the veterinary field
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the basic rules and regulations governing visitors and patient treatment
  • Knowledge of standard procedures, veterinary records and veterinary terminology
  • Must be friendly, professional, and reliable
  • Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work cooperatively as a team and maintain our positive environment
  • Amenable to a flexible work schedule; able to work some Saturdays
  • Skill regarding record-keeping duties and clerical duties related to patient care and treatment
  • Skill assisting with physical examinations, immunizations, euthanasia, and client education
  • Must possess a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventative healthcare recommendations

Desirable Technical Skills (will train in some areas):

Venipuncture, obtaining skin scrapes and preparing skin and ear cytology samples, obtaining and processing a variety of lab samples, preparing and administering vaccines, preparing prescription medications, administering injections, knowledge of ear anatomy/cleaning and medicating ears, wound treatment, placing IV catheters, dental radiology and procedures, general radiology responsibilities, surgical preparation of patients and anesthetic monitoring, and client communication/education.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
